I’m taking part in the Premmie Marathon Challenge

Thank you for supporting ‘Premmie Marathon Challenge’ this November, raising funds for urgently needed lifesaving humidicribs for the Royal Hospital for Women, Sydney, and the Alice Springs Hospital neonatal units, giving hundreds of premature babies a better chance of survival.

Our Small but Mighty

We have smashed our fundraising goal already!
Our support network- YOU!- are truely amazing!
Every dollar goes towards the purchase of critically important equipment. This equipment is literally life saving.

A little bit about us for those of you that have joined our team or donated and maybe aren’t sure why Team Small but Mighty means so much to us.
In March this year our daughter was born prematurely at 26+3 gestation. She spent 8 weeks in Neonatal Intensive Care at The Royal Hospital for Women in Randwick before being transferred to Wollongong where she spent another 5 weeks in the Neonatal Unit before we could finally bring her home and begin our life as a new family.
Our little baby spent her first months in the warmth of an incubator. It was her bed and her life support.
This incubator, along with other specialised equipment, kept her breathing, regulated her body temperature, kept her skin from drying out, monitored her breathing, heart rate and oxygen saturation and with specialist care from the incredible doctors and nurses at the RHW gave her a great start to life.

It is incredibly difficult to articulate what it feels like to have a premmie baby in the NICU. Each day is full of simultaneous triumph and heart break.  Each night is full of anxiety wondering what awaits you in the morning.
We chose to name our little one Matilda meaning “might and strength in battle”.
Our baby showed unbelievable strength and determination. She is truely a mighty warrior and we are still in awe of her.

Participating in the run for premature babies gives us an opportunity to help future premmie  babies and their families.
Thank you for your support, it really means a lot to us.

Julie, Taylor, Matilda and Team Small but MIGHTY!
