World Record Attempt – 1000km in 7 Days
On Sunday, October 12th, 2025, I’ll be attempting to break the world record for the greatest distance run on a treadmill in 7 days (male). The current record stands at 843 kilometers, set by Jamie McDonald in 2019. My goal is to push the limit further, aiming for 1000 kilometers over the course of 7 days. That’s an average of roughly 142 kilometers per day on the treadmill.
For those of you who don’t know me, this challenge is deeply personal. I was born prematurely at just 24 weeks, weighing only 625 grams. Without the life-saving equipment provided through Telethon, I wouldn’t be here today, preparing for this world record attempt. I’ll also be running in support of Running for Premature Babies, a charity that raises funds for life-saving equipment for premature babies across Australia.
My mission is to raise awareness and funds for the countless premature babies across the country, through Telethon and Running for Premature Babies. Unfortunately, not every premature baby survives, and that’s why I aim to raise $800,000 for each charity—targeting the 8% of babies born prematurely every year in Australia.
I’m beyond excited and grateful to have the opportunity to attempt this world record. I can’t wait to push myself both mentally and physically over 7 intense days at my local footy club in Perth, Western Australia.
Such a wonderful thing you're doing, Luke. All the best with your training and I hope you smash the record 💪
