... and save the life of a baby like Hughie
Your donations will help fund urgently needed neonatal equipment that saves the lives of sick and premature babies like Hughie.
Born at just 23 weeks and weighing 680g, Hughie spent his first five months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Hospital for Women Sydney. State-of-the-art equipment donated by Running for Premature Babies, including a specialised ventilator, saved his life.
After five months in hospital, Hughie finally made it home to Nyngan, NSW. Now 20 months old, he is a happy and chatty little person who loves playing with his big brother, helping Dad on the farm, and playing outside.

About Us
Running for Premature Babies was established in 2007 by Sophie Smith after she and her late husband Ash lost their triplet sons, Henry, Jasper and Evan, following an extremely premature birth at 24 weeks.
Since then, thousands of people have run for the cause, raising more than $9 million for life saving neonatal equipment and research giving thousands of premature babies a better chance of survival.
The Running for Premature Babies Foundation is a registered Australian Charity supporting neonatal units in hospitals around the country.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes, Running for Premature Babies Foundation is a Deductible Gift Recipient so all donations over $2 are tax deductible to Australian tax payers.Â
Why is my donation so important?Â
Many Australian hospitals do not have the neonatal equipment necessary to save a premature baby's life. Further, the pace of technological improvements means that neonatal equipment is regularly superseded by more advanced equipment. Early access to equipment and the use of advanced equipment makes the difference between a life saved and a life lost.
Our work identifies hospitals around Australia in urgent need of neonatal equipment and supplies equipment to bridge this gap.Â
By equipping hospitals with advanced equipment, fragile lives will be saved. Learn more here.
Regular donors are our heroes. You help us to plan ahead, safe in the knowledge that your support is ongoing. You also reduce our administration costs compared to one-off donors. By becoming a regular giver, you can help us create a country where every single premature baby, wherever they are born, has the best chance of survival. Â
To make it 'regular' simply select Weekly, Monthly or Yearly above the donation panel. You can change your selection at any time by contacting us.

Shout out to all the special care nurses, doctors, and families of these incredible little fighters.

Our girls, Lena (born at 25 weeks) and Tiana (born at 29 weeks), are both thriving thanks to the incredible technology in the NICU. Without it, their lives could have been very different. Please consider donating what you can to help save other babies born too soon.

To anyone going through a NICU journey right now, feeling lost with each setback—hold on to hope. One day, you’ll look back and smile at the strength you found during those hospital days with your little one. It may feel endless in the moment, but before you know it, it will be just a memory in the blink of an eye. Much love, The Tonkins

From a mum of a 33-weeker, it’s scary, it’s overwhelming, and it can feel like your newborn experience has been taken away. But in the end, it’s all worth it. The moment you finally get to take your healthy, strong baby home is the most rewarding experience of your life. My son, Jack, is now a happy, healthy 12-month-old!
