Rottnest channel swim for premature babies

Did you know that 26,000 babies are born prematurely in Australia each year, and many hospitals are in need of upgraded neonatal equipment to save their lives?

Our team comprised of Annabel, Elle, Maddy and Anabell are swimming the Rottnest channel (a 19.7km open water swim event) to raise funds to support the wonderful work of Running for Premature Babies in giving these premature babies a better chance of survival.

This charity was founded in memory of baby triplets, Henry, Jasper & Evan Smith, who were unable to overcome their prematurity when they were born in 2006. Since then over $9 million has been raised, providing 150 pieces of life-saving equipment that has directly benefitted over 10,000 babies.

Your donation will help keep us motivated, knowing that our race is about so much more than our finishing time.

Any donation, no matter how big or small, will be greatly appreciated and will make a tangible difference to the lives of so many tiny babies.

$25 - Could provide a jaundiced baby with access to a phototherapy light for 3 weeks. Jaundice is very common in premature babies and if left untreated can cause brain damage

$60 - could provide a technologically advanced humidicrib for a sick or premature baby for 5 days. These humidicribs have been described as ‘the next best thing to the womb’

$200 - could provide a life-saving resuscitation cot for 20 babies born in distress and needing assistance to breathe
