Team Luca

Every day in Australia, 71 babies are born prematurely.

This November, my sister and I are taking on the Premmie Marathon Challenge where we will be walking or running 71km each to give these babies the best chance at life.

This charity is very close to our hearts as our beautiful Luca was brought into the world on the 5th of August 2025 at a tiny 1.7kg. Luca encountered growth restrictions from around 25 weeks, with countless scans and monitoring every week he managed to hold on in there until 35 weeks. When we were told Luca was going to be coming early they pretty much prepared us for the worst, but our little fighter came out filling the room with cries and from then on he amazed us everyday. 

He spent 1 day in NICU followed by 10 days in Neonatal Care, the Drs and Midwives who cared for Luca over these 11 days were absolutely amazing and I owe them everything! Jump forward coming on 15 months and Luca is now taking his first steps and keeping us extra busy. If it wasn’t for the care we received before and after Luca was born, I’d hate to think where we could possibly be.

The funds I raise will help Running for Premature Babies provide life-saving neonatal equipment for hospitals around Australia, giving premature and critically ill babies the chance to grow stronger and go home with their families.
