Premmie Marathon Challenge 2026

Running for premmie equipment, Freya.

I'm running to raise funds for premmie equipment in hospitals that need it. Without it, Freya wouldn't have made it. Every baby deserves a chance

Off with a BANG with the Run Huskisson Festival

Keeping true to my ADHD brain, which loves to do things dramatically, I kicked off this challenge by entering Freya and I into the Run Huskisson Festival!
So on Saturday, we geared ourselves up with some friends to run the 2.5km family fun run. I was blown away by my amazing little Freya who ran the first 1km virtually by herself, only stopping to pat colourful traffic cones and console a little boy, dressed as a minion, who had stumbled across a squashed rabbit on the road and tried to pet it.
The run was incredible, with the cheers of the crowd being one of the major things pulling me through the pain, spurring me on to keep putting one foot in front of the other.
You might scoff at 2.5kms, but for me, this is huge. Since having Freya, my knees and hips and lower back have been extremely painful, to the point where I was unable to do anything more than one small outing each day (e.g. small grocery shop) without being in excruciating pain. The drs eventually ruled it to be stress induced chronic pain, which actually rang true as the pain significantly improved once I dropped 85kgs of toxic ex fiancè.

Although the pain has reduced massively, general walking and daily activities have still consistently led to chronic sciatica and back spasms. Add that to the already huge task of recovering from DV and solo parenting, and my life has been.... challenging!

When the Run for Premmie Babies challenge came up, I knew I had to enter. Freya's journey into the world profoundly changed everything about my life, my identity, my body, my nervous system and still does to this day. I feel unbelievably blessed that my little girl was one of the ones who made it. Having gone through the journey of hell that is NICU, I know how vital this equipment is. I saw many humidicribs sent for scrap as they were not up to the standard needed. And the standard is HIGH. These little babies need a huge amount of support and sterile conditions. One tiny germ or one cool breeze can change their entire future. I chose my fundraising amount of $1100 as it is the cost of replacing one of these amazing lifesaving faux pregnancy bellies.

I look forward to keeping you updated on the gruelling runs I am going to put myself through. I hope that this challenge a turning point for me, and I can show my beautiful Freya what a healthy and happy life looks like.

Every day in Australia, 71 babies are born prematurely.

This November, I'm taking on the Premmie Marathon Challenge to give these babies the best chance at life.

The funds I raise will help Running for Premature Babies provide life-saving neonatal equipment for hospitals around Australia, giving premature and critically ill babies the chance to grow stronger and go home with their families.

If you're able to support me, I'd be incredibly grateful. Every donation helps fund the equipment and research that gives premature babies a better chance of survival and quality of life.

Thank you for supporting my challenge and helping Australia's tiniest babies. 💜
