Our gorgeous little Harlow came into the world quite unexpected. Which the arrival took place in September at 29 weeks and 3 days, weighing a total of 1550 grams. What followed soon after birth was a transfer from Goulburn Hospital to the Centenary Hospital NICU in Canberra.Â
Our tiny little miracle is cared for around the clock with assistance from specialised medical equipment, nurses, specialists and doctors. We see progress every day, as little Harlow is growing stronger, achieving new milestones, and getting closer to coming home with us. However, our journey with a NICU baby just started, and we still have at least another 9 to 10 weeks before our baby will meet full term standards or weight, and will be released home with us.Â
After undertaking just the start of this journey ourselves, we understand the emotional rollercoaster, heartbreak, challenges the NICU families face, plus the mental and physical toll it begins taking over time. We couldn't imagine coping through this tough time without the incredible people, resources, and equipment the hospitals can access.Â
