Premmie Marathon Challenge 2025

Why I’m Running for Premmie Babies

I’m a first-time mum to beautiful twin girls, Amelia and Kaylee, who arrived in March after an 18-month journey to conceive. Twin pregnancies are higher risk, so I had prepared myself for the possibility of an early delivery—we had our baby shower, hospital bags packed, and house ready all before 30 weeks.

Thankfully, our girls made it to 37+1 weeks and were born via elective C-section. Twin A (Amelia) was hypothermic and spent 48 hours in the warmer, while Twin B (Kaylee) had fluid on her lungs and needed CPAP support and antibiotics in the Special Care Nursery. We were lucky their stay was short, but I know many families go through much longer, tougher journeys.

Throughout my pregnancy, I experienced a lot of health challenges and lost a significant amount of weight. I’ve always been plus-size, and now I feel like a whole new person. I want to keep that weight off and stay healthy—not just for me, but for my girls. When I saw this fundraiser pop up on my Facebook feed, it felt like the perfect way to stay motivated, stay active, and support an incredible cause.

Every donation helps fund life-saving neonatal equipment for sick and premature babies. Thank you so much for your support—it truly means the world.

This November I’m taking on the Premmie Marathon Challenge

This November, I’m clocking up the kms in the Premmie Marathon Challenge — raising vital funds for life-saving neonatal equipment to give critically ill and premature babies a better chance at life.

As a mum of multiples, I know how real the risks can be. The chance of having premature babies is significantly higher with twins, and while we were incredibly lucky that our girls made it to 37 weeks and only needed a short stay in Special Care, many families aren’t as fortunate. Some babies spend weeks or even months in the NICU, fighting every day with the help of this life-saving equipment.

Every kilometre I complete is for them — the tiniest fighters and their amazing families.

If you’re in a position to donate, I’d love your support. Your donation is tax-deductible and will help keep me motivated as I move through the challenge, knowing each step is helping save lives.

Want to join me? You can sign up too! Just choose your challenge distance and start clocking your kms in support of premmie babies.
