My Why

In 2019, my partner Russell and I had our little baby girl, Ellie. It was a very stressful pregnancy as we were told early on that one of her brain ventricles was not developing as it should. This meant travelling to Brisbane quite often for MRI's, blood tests and doctors appointments.

She was born at 35 + 2 weeks weighing only 1.8 kilograms. She was delivered via emergency caesarean due to a pre-eclampsia diagnosis.

She was absolutely tiny and spent her first Christmas in the Rockhampton Base Hospital surrounded by an amazing stuff of Special Care Nurses. They made our first Christmas as a family as special as they could.

If it wasn't for them and the doctors, we might not be here today. This is my why. We were lucky enough to have access to the resources we needed to keep our family. I want to do whatever I can to give that to other people.

Follow along, donate if you can and stay tuned for more!

This November I’m taking on the Premmie Marathon Challenge

As you might know, my daughter Ellie was born premature due to preclampsia. Thanks to the amazing team at Rockhampton Base Hospital and the Maternity Ward, she is now a thriving toddler. A toddler who started life in the 5th percentile who is now in the 98th!

I’ll be clocking up my kms in the Premmie Marathon Challenge to raise funds for life-saving neonatal equipment that will give critically ill and premature babies a better chance of survival.

I'd love your support - if you can, please make a generous tax-deductible donation here.

Thank you for your support.
Your donation will help keep me motivated as I complete my challenge through November, knowing that each km I complete is helping save the lives of sick and premature babies.

Fancy joining me? You can sign up for the Premmie Marathon Challenge too! Simply choose your challenge distance and start clocking your kms for premmie babies.
