This November I’m taking on the Premmie Marathon Challenge
In May 2023 I gave birth to an extremely premature baby girl. Born three months early at 27 weeks and 1 day she had an uphill battle from day one.
After spending 4 months in the NICU and SCN, achieving many milestones and having multiple setbacks our little girl finally came home.
While she still has a few medical hurdles to overcome in August 2025 her paediatrician officially declared that she had graduated from prematurity.
As parents we are incredibly proud of how hard she fought in those first few months, but she didn't do it alone, we will forever be grateful to all the doctors, nurses, specialists and support staff at both Latrobe Regional Hospital and Mercy Hospital for Women and the PIPER team who transported her safely between the two.
November is prematurity awareness month; to help raise awareness I'll be taking part in the Premmie Marathon Challenge.
I’ll be clocking up my kms to raise funds for life-saving neonatal equipment that will give critically ill and premature babies a better chance of survival.
