I'm walking 142km to celebrate my baby, Gabriel.

My beautiful boy was born at just 34 weeks after my waters broke prematurely. What started as premature rupture of membranes quickly turned into an emergency caesarean when he became distressed. He arrived weighing just 2.2 kg and measuring 49 cm long. At the time, we didn’t know what had caused everything to happen so suddenly. It wasn’t until my placenta was tested that it came back positive for Haemophilus influenzae (HiB), which had caused an infection and led to my little boy developing sepsis. Thankfully, the incredible team at King Edward Memorial Hospital had already treated him empirically for sepsis, starting treatment before they had confirmation of the infection. Now, eight months later, our beautiful boy is thriving alongside his big brother and sister. 🤍 From such a frightening beginning to the happy, thriving little boy he is today — we couldn’t be more grateful.
