This November I’m taking on the Premmie Marathon Challenge
Ash Jules Henry was born at just 27 weeks and 2 days weighing a tiny 867gms. He has battled PICC line extravation, a PDA, bilateral collapsed lungs, endless infections, renal failure, a bowel obstruction, Grade 2 bleed on the brain (resulting in Periventricular Leukomalacia and Cerebral Palsy of unknown severity), Grade 2 ROP, bilateral anterior segment dysgenesis, left inguinal hernia, severe aspiration of all oral contents, severe GORD and severe lung disease.
At 133 days, Ash went home to finally be a family with his Mummy and Daddy. Ash is on 24hr home oxygen and has a naso-gastric tube for all feeds and medications.
He is our light and has earned the moniker #AshTheBrave.
Ash would not be alive without the amazing NICU team who worked tirelessly to keep him earthside and there will never be words to thank them for giving us our son...so instead we are choosing to lace up our runners and help other babies who will follow in Ash's footsteps.
This November I’ll be clocking up my kms in the Premmie Marathon Challenge to raise funds for life-saving neonatal equipment that will give critically ill and premature babies a better chance of survival.
I'd love your support - if you can, please make a generous tax-deductible donation here.
Thank you for your support.
Your donation will help keep me motivated as I complete my challenge through November, knowing that each km I complete is helping save the lives of sick and premature babies.
To the amazing men and women of The Royal Hospital for Women, Randwick, Sydney...this is for you...you gave us our son.
