This November I’m taking on the Premmie Marathon Challenge
I’m taking on the Premmie Marathon Challenge this November to raise vital funds for life-saving neonatal equipment, giving critically ill and premature babies the best possible chance of survival.
Our little warrior, Athena Rose, was born three months early due to pregnancy complications, weighing just 890 grams. Thanks to the incredible care and advanced equipment made possible through fundraising, her fragile lungs and brain received the support they needed - and our family’s story had a happy ending.
In addition to our experience, I am also walking for my sister and brother in law, and in memory of my nephew, Clyde who was born with his angel wings at 23 weeks ?
After 8 weeks in the NICU, we experienced firsthand the emotional rollercoaster that families face when their baby arrives too soon. Now that Athena is thriving at home, it’s our turn to pay it forward to help give other families the same hope and care we received.
According to the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, almost 1 in 10 babies - around 30,000 each year - are born prematurely in Australia. Donations to this cause help hospitals access state-of-the-art ventilators, incubators, and other life-saving equipment, and also fund family support services, care packages, and accommodation for parents during their NICU journey.
I’d love your support. If you’re able, please make a generous, tax-deductible donation to this important cause. ?
Or why not join me? Sign up for the Premmie Marathon Challenge, choose your distance, and start clocking your kilometres for premmie babies.
Thank you for helping give tiny fighters like Athena the best possible start to life.???
