Walking for Austin

I spent 5 years struggling with infertility and after a lose in early 2024 I was beyond excited to be expecting a baby boy ON MY BIRTHDAY!!! in 2025.
After being told on Valentine’s Day that my cervix was 14mm and funnelling, I was taken for emergency surgery to have stitches placed to delay preterm labour. From 33 weeks I started to have strong pulling sensations and even after several drs telling me it wa natural I knew the stitches were struggling to hold. At 36 weeks I went to emergency for an infection coming from the stitches and the decision was made to remove them immediately. The dr regretted this the second the scissors clamped down as I immediately dilated and started to contract. 3 days later and an emergency c-section that went horribly wrong I was finally able to hold the baby I’d waited what felt like a lifetime for. Apart from some low blood pressure and needing a feeding tube, as well as jaundice (we thought he had a nice tan) our boy was perfect albeit a bit small.

We are very well aware that even being classed as a Premmie Austin was very lucky compared to other babies and what there families go through. This is why I’ve decided to put on my walking shoes, get the pram and the pups ready and walk 300km across November so that no matter how early other premmies come into the world I can help raise funds so that are cared for just like my boy was

This November I’m taking on the Premmie Marathon Challenge

After welcoming my baby boy 4 weeks early and having to visit him in the nursery, I’ll be clocking up my kms in the Premmie Marathon Challenge to raise funds for life-saving neonatal equipment that will give critically ill and premature babies a better chance of survival.

I'd love your support - if you can, please make a generous tax-deductible donation here.

Thank you for your support.
Your donation will help keep me motivated as I complete my challenge through November, knowing that each km I complete is helping save the lives of sick and premature babies.

Fancy joining me? You can sign up for the Premmie Marathon Challenge too! Simply choose your challenge distance and start clocking your kms for premmie babies.
