WHY

This November, I’m running 200 kilometres to raise funds for premature babies and the incredible teams who fight for their tiny lives every single day.

Last November, my nephew Leo was born at just 28 weeks. It was one of the scariest times our family has ever faced, we didn’t know if he would make it. My sister showed incredible strength through every uncertain moment, and the NICU staff were nothing short of amazing. They cared for Leo with such dedication and love but what really stood out to me was how outdated their lifesaving equipment was, relying heavily on fundraising to continue.

That’s why I’m running- for Leo, for my sister, and for every family who has sat beside a humidicrib praying for their baby to breathe, grow, and survive. Every kilometre I run is a thank you to the NICU staff and a step toward giving future premmie babies the best chance at life.

Leo just celebrated his first birthday, a reminder of how far he’s come and the power of the NICU.

This November I’m taking on the Premmie Marathon Challenge

I’ll be clocking up my kms in the Premmie Marathon Challenge to raise funds for life-saving neonatal equipment that will give critically ill and premature babies a better chance of survival.
