This November I’m taking on the Premmie Marathon Challenge

As some of you will know our beautiful girls arrived in a hurry at 36 weeks on the 15th June 2025.

While we were lucky to carry twins this long, strong little Billie held her breathing together for the 1 hour 15min until we reached the hospital but then required life saving CPAP in NICU.

Even more scary for Zahli, I had a very rare but life threatening Placental Abruption before she was born (meaning her placenta came away from the uterine wall, starving her of oxygen). Thankfully we had the most amazing medical team that had me in theatre within 12minutes of arriving in Birth suite and performed an emergency caesarean under general anaesthetic (I was put to sleep). 

We were told when I woke up that if it had been another two minutes we likely would have lost Zahli. She was born with an apgar of 1 and transferred to NICU also requiring CPAP machines. 

We weren’t able to hold Billie or Zahli for the first 2 days but the nurses and doctors in NICU are something special, they kept our babies alive and healthy and we will always be grateful ?

I’ll be clocking up my kms in the Premmie Marathon Challenge to raise funds for life-saving neonatal equipment that will give critically ill and premature babies a better chance of survival.
